Annual conferences for Americans and Italians under the age of 40, who have distinguished themselves in various careers (e.g. business, government, academia, media) have been held alternatively in Italy and the United States since 1984. From five years later on, participants from other countries have also been included, the country of origin varying according to the topic discussed.

The purpose of the Young Leaders Conferences is to allow participants to gain new perspectives on issues of global relevance by exchanging and comparing knowledge and experience, as well as to create a network among emerging European and American leaders. The relationships among the alumni of the Program are constantly nourished through other events organized by the Council and through the newsletter devoted to them.
